Christmas Greetings
– Vaiko –
At a time when struggles and cycles of suffering are piling up in human life, the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ, the Redeemer who offered teachings that shine as a light of hope and serve as a great remedy proclaiming the dignity of humanism, is celebrated by Christians across the world as the festival of Christmas. The great revolutionary Fidel Castro of Cuba once said that among all the writings that deeply impressed him in his life, the Sermon on the Mount of Jesus stood foremost.
Jesus the Great delivered exalted words of comfort for those who suffer, for the meek, for those who hunger and thirst for justice, for the merciful, for the pure in heart, for the peacemakers, and for those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness.
Crowned with thorns, subjected to brutal torture, and crucified at Calvary on Golgotha, the blood that He shed was shed for the sake of all humankind.
In the context of Tamil Nadu, the invaluable service rendered by the Christian Church for the Tamil language, for its enrichment, for relieving the suffering of the poor and the downtrodden, and for providing quality education to the common people, stands out as historically significant.
The protection of minority communities is the shield that safeguards the very foundation of democracy. Religious harmony has become an indispensable necessity for India in the present times. All sections must realize this and act accordingly. Keeping in our hearts the sacred words of Jesus Christ, who taught us to love even those who hate us, let us resolve to protect India’s secularism and religious harmony.
With a spirit that reflects love, compassion, kindness, and affection towards fellow human beings, I extend Christmas greetings with joy to the Christian community on behalf of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
