Singampunari:
“Hindus and Muslims in Madurai have been living like brothers. However, the verdict in the Thirupparankundram case has gone in favour of certain Hindutva groups who are attempting to incite religious hatred and provoke communal unrest among them,” said Vaiko.
Vaiko began his Samathuva Nadaipayanam (March for Equality) in Tiruchirappalli on January 2. On the 6th day of the march, he arrived at Puzhuthipatti near Singampunari in Sivagangai district today. He was accorded a warm welcome by party members led by district secretary Pasumpon Manoharan, who showered flowers and garlanded him.
Addressing the media thereafter, Vaiko said:
“The Modi government has deliberately removed Mahatma Gandhi’s name only with the intention of dismantling the 100-day employment guarantee scheme. It has deceitfully imposed a financial burden on the State government.
Amit Shah has spoken with arrogance and audacity, saying that the DMK will be wiped out. Had I been a Rajya Sabha MP at this time, I would have confronted Amit Shah directly and asked him how much courage he really has.
The circulation of narcotic substances has increased alarmingly in Tamil Nadu. This will destroy the State. Under the influence of drugs, some people turn into beasts within minutes and ruin young women. The distribution of drugs even among college and school students is a dangerous sign. This must be stopped at any cost. Tamil Nadu should not turn into another Punjab.
In the case concerning the lighting of the beacon at the Thirupparankundram hill, a judge has crossed his limits and delivered a verdict beyond his jurisdiction, and other judges have endorsed it. Are the judges expecting bloodshed in Tamil Nadu? They have crossed all boundaries. If bloodshed occurs, the judges themselves will be responsible. The Tamil Nadu government is going to file an appeal against this verdict in the Supreme Court.
Madurai has always been a symbol of tolerance and equality, where Hindus and Muslims live like brothers. But this verdict by the judges has favoured certain Hindutva groups who are trying to instigate religious hatred and create communal violence among the people,” Vaiko said.
