MDMK General Secretary Vaiko has urged people to take a pledge on the occasion of the English New Year to ensure the victory of the DMK-led alliance in the 2026 Assembly elections.
In his New Year greeting message, Vaiko alleged that the Modi-led Union government has committed unforgivable acts of deception and betrayal over the past few years against Tamil Nadu’s livelihoods, particularly on issues related to inter-state river water disputes.
He further accused the ruling dispensation at the Centre of working to undermine the very foundations of Indian democracy by attacking secularism, and alleged that Hindutva forces are attempting to impose religious extremism and engineer bloodshed in order to establish an authoritarian, fascist regime in India.
In this backdrop, Vaiko called upon voters to take a firm pledge on this day to ensure the victory of the DMK-led alliance in the 2026 Assembly elections.
