Vaiko Concludes Equality Walkathon in Madurai Today

On January 2nd, in Trichy, MDMK General Secretary Vaiko began an "Equality Yatra" (Samathuva Nadaipayanam) to emphasize drug eradication and the prevention of religious conflicts. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated this journey.

Starting from Trichy, Vaiko carried out his walkathon through the districts of Pudukkottai and Sivaganga. Over 500 people, including Durai Vaiko M.P., key executives, and 100 volunteers, participated alongside him. From January 15th, they covered a walking distance of approximately 17 kilometers daily. Yesterday evening, Vaiko arrived in the Velur area of Madurai district, where party members gave him an enthusiastic welcome. He concluded yesterday's leg of the journey at a marriage hall in Uthangudi.

While speaking to reporters, Vaiko stated that the INDIA alliance would achieve a massive victory in the upcoming elections and that the DMK would form the government with a solo majority. He remarked that Vijay is building "castles in the sand" thinking he can achieve success in politics. He added that he does not consider it as a "share in power," and if such a consideration exists, any contest would only be announced after alliance negotiations.

Durai Vaiko told reporters that Vaiko announced this walkathon at the age of 82. Despite doctors advising against it, he did not agree to stop. He faced difficulties during the walk, yet he made no compromises for his own self-interest. He emphasized that Vaiko's sacrifice should not be trivialized. He noted that past BJP leaders respected Vaiko, but individuals like Annamalai and Nainar Nagendran are directing political animosity toward him, which he stated is unacceptable.

Today, marking the 11th day of the journey, Vaiko began his concluding walk from Othakadai toward Madurai city in the morning. A large crowd of party members gathered at Mattuthavani to welcome him. Durai Vaiko M.P., Pudur Boominathan M.L.A., District Secretary Muniyasamy, Airport Pandiyan, and other key executives and volunteers took part.

Over the past 11 days, Vaiko has walked more than 150 kilometers with his supporters. This evening, he concludes his walkathon at the Obula Padithurai in Madurai. Following this, a public meeting organized by the MDMK will be held there, where he will deliver a special address.
