MDMK General Secretary Vaiko stated, “The MDMK will take a firm decision to protect the Dravidian movement. I have dedicated my entire life to the Dravidian movement.”
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Vaiko said, “I had already met the media earlier today and expressed my views on the Union Budget. Once the DMK’s negotiation committee makes its announcement regarding the alliance, the MDMK negotiation committee will meet them. Only after those talks will the number of seats be decided. At this moment, I do not wish to say anything further.
The MDMK election manifesto preparation committee has been formed and is actively working. I have led countless protests and padayatras to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s vital resources and have protected and reclaimed them. I ensured the closure of the Sterlite toxic plant. I have blocked the Neutrino project for 16 years and brought it to a halt. I prevented the Neyveli Lignite Corporation from falling into the hands of North Indian corporate interests and protected it.
Similarly, on major public issues in Tamil Nadu such as methane gas and hydrocarbon projects in the Cauvery delta, I travelled village to village and campaigned across hundreds of villages to warn people. The very next day, the methane office itself was vacated and shut down. From my perspective, our movement has achieved many milestones. We even crossed four states and went to Madhya Pradesh with a thousand people to stage a protest. There is no historical record of any party travelling across four states from its home state to carry out such a protest. The MDMK has proven what it can achieve.
The MDMK will take a resolute stand to protect the Dravidian movement. I have devoted my entire life to the Dravidian movement. I firmly believe that the DMK-led secular alliance, which stands as the spearhead of the Dravidian movement, will win. The DMK will secure a clear majority, and M.K. Stalin will continue to lead the Dravidian Model government. We will actively campaign to ensure this victory.”
When reporters asked him about actor Vijay’s statement that “the contest is between the DMK and TVK,” Vaiko responded, “I do not wish to comment on that.”
