Vaiko’s ‘Equality March’: Durai Vaiko Moves to Tears as Vaiko Issues a Warning to the BJP

Vaiko’s “Equality March”: Durai Vaiko breaks down emotionally, Vaiko warns the BJP

“I only know Sivaji Ganesan and Karunanidhi’s Parasakthi. I do not know about the present Parasakthi – Vaiko in Madurai”

Equality March

MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, began the “Equality March” on January 2, 2026 from Tiruchirappalli. As the march reached its final phase, Vaiko today walked from Othakadai to Uthangudi in Madurai.

MDMK cadres welcomed Vaiko with Karagattam, Devarattam, Oyilattam, Puli Attam, Thappattam, Parai music and drum beats. Vaiko took photographs with the artists.

“The DMK alliance will win a grand victory”

Speaking to reporters at Uthangudi, Vaiko said:

“Most of the leaders in the alliance parties participated in the march and expressed their support. Because of drugs, great damage is happening, and it must be controlled. Only after I announced this march did the AIADMK and BJP speak about it. Until then, they did not speak about it. Everyone has the right to come into politics. Those from the film field also have the right. I will not criticize them. They think they can easily succeed in politics. They are building a sand fort. It can collapse at any time. In the coming election, the DMK alliance will win a grand victory. The DMK will form the government with an absolute majority. Once again the Dravidian Model government will be formed and M.K. Stalin will lead Tamil Nadu as Chief Minister.

About Parasakthi

“The film Jananaayagan has every right to be released. For what reason the Censor Board has stopped the film, they must explain. Even if it is stopped now, within a short time it will be removed. There will be no problem for that film to be released. I know only Sivaji Ganesan and Karunanidhi’s Parasakthi. I do not know about the present Parasakthi. Amit Shah, who comes to Tamil Nadu, gives advice to the people of Tamil Nadu. In the land of the Dravidian movement, his advice will not work. Prime Minister Modi is a strategist. He writes Thirukkural, Purananooru and Bharathiyar’s songs in Hindi and reads them in a dramatic way. Through this he is trying to attract Tamil Nadu and the people of Tamil Nadu. But he refuses to allocate the funds that should be given to Tamil Nadu. They think they can wipe out the DMK in Tamil Nadu. The DMK has faced much bigger suppressions than this. No one can remove the DMK from this land. Eight years ago, thinking carefully, to protect the Dravidian movement, we formed an alliance with the DMK. It was a decision taken on an ideological basis. We are firm in it.”

“In a democratic country, anyone can speak about anything. So they speak about a share in the alliance and a share in the government. But we do not agree with that view. We have not placed such conditions, and we will not place them. There is no reason for any tension in this. Neither I nor anyone from our party has ever asked for a place in the ministry. There is a reason for saying this. After the alliance talks begin, we will announce how many seats we will contest.”

After this, MP Durai Vaiko said:

“At the age of 82, when his heart is functioning with a machine, leader Vaiko announced this march. Even though doctors and many others advised him not to do it, he did not accept it. He suffered every second during the march. For election politics he may have made some compromises, but Vaiko has never made any compromise for his own benefit. His service and sacrifice should not be belittled. Former BJP leaders respect Vaiko. But Annamalai and Nainar Nagendran are showing political hatred towards Vaiko. This is not acceptable.”
