MDMK General Secretary Vaiko commenced an Equality Walkathon (Samathuva Nadaipayanum) in Trichy on the 2nd of this month. Undertaken to advocate for the eradication of drugs and the prevention of caste and religious conflicts, he concludes this journey today in Madurai.
In connection with this, a valedictory public meeting is currently being held in Madurai. Participants include Vaiko, Durai Vaiko, actor Sathyaraj, poet Vairamuthu, Ministers Moorthy and P.T.R. Palanivel Thiagarajan, and Madurai MP Su. Venkatesan, among others.
Poet Vairamuthu’s Speech:
"When Vaiko walked, truth walked with him, ambition walked, and Tamil walked; MDMK cadres with tireless legs walked alongside him. Which discrimination should be weeded out first—caste or religion? Periyar said changing religion is easy, but changing caste is impossible; Vaiko carries that message in his heart. It is an undeniable fact that liquor exists in Tamil Nadu. Addiction is not just a local culture, but a global one. Alcohol may not leave Tamil Nadu, but Tamils must leave alcohol. Alcohol affects the liver. One of Vaiko's dreams is that this current government's rule should continue. The Breakfast Scheme (Education revolution), Women's Entitlement Grant, and free bus travel are the most important economic schemes of this country."
Actor Sathyaraj’s Speech:
"Vaiko is a leader who has walked 6,000 km for equality and social justice. When he walks, sacrifice and honesty walk with him. While cinema stars may look like heroes to the average person, to those of us in cinema, Vaiko is the hero. If you ask cinema actors to go to jail for even two days, they won't. Vaiko lives as a real-life hero as an alternative to reel heroes. Secular parties including DK, DMK, MDMK, and Communists must all come together like a 'Machine Gun' to protect Tamil Nadu."
