“Not asking for a share in power is not due to fear,” said MDMK General Secretary Vaiko in Madurai.
Emphasizing eradication of drugs, prevention of caste and religious conflicts, Vaiko, who began a padayatra (march) from Tiruchirappalli on January 2, reached Othakadai in Madurai yesterday evening. He was given a warm welcome.
He said:
“Everyone has the right to enter politics. But some people think they can easily succeed. The Censor Board must explain for what reason the film Gnanapandan has been stopped. I only know the film Parasakthi acted by Sivaji. I do not know about the present Parasakthi.
Prime Minister Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah think they can wipe out the DMK from Tamil Nadu. In the coming election, the DMK will form the government with an absolute majority. The MDMK–DMK alliance is based on ideology. We do not consider it as a demand for a share in power. There is no fear behind this.
There is a reason why we have not so far asked for a place in the Cabinet. After alliance talks begin, we will announce the number of constituencies. Thus he said.”
